Kinja'd!!!

I......... I............

Like Infiniti G coupes.

Don't hurt me!

I understand that a majority of owners are seen as tools who constantly try to race (According to the tools that drive 335i's on e90post) and stance their cars and whatnot, but the G37 coupe is actually a nice car.

A nicely powered, good handling, attractive coupe that can't seem to hold value and goes for under $20k all day long? Sign me up! Sure the stanced ones are usually hideous, but a mild drop with a nice set of wheels and a good exhaust really makes the car stand out. You also get a nice interior with tons of goodies. And, 6MT!

It's definitely a runner up for my next DD. Any owners here on oppo?

Whole lotta "meh" comes to mind when I think of those. Don't know why.

Apart from the whole engine grenading thing.

There something kinda stealthy about a stock one, which is part "meh" and part "hey!" for me. And if you're looking for a used one, depreciation is definitely your friend.

Luckily I'm not! But if someone comes to me asking what to recommend, I might have a positive opinion towards these cars.

That's because most of them either look meh or stanced. You gotta find the perfectly modded one to see how awesome these cars are/look.

Not an owner, but my little brother had a 1st gen. Other than the grill, I think it's one of the more attractive coupes.

My dad had 3 of them all leased as company cars, all 6MT. They are pretty nice values in the pre-owned market and you don't have to worry about some of the reliability issues like in some of the German cars. That being said I really did not like the shifter, I found it to be too heavy and clunky. The G has good handling but the "feel" isn't as connected as say an E92. But if you want a quick, upscale luxury 2 door that won't break the bank it could be worth it. Just get one unmodified preferably from an older seller.

It's not as common as most people assume it to be, and Infiniti is doing the right thing in almost all these cases.

Also, a lot of the failures are caused by really shitty mods that are bought of eBay.

I think G35's and G37's both look great from most every angle. RWD, manual transmission, clean lines, what's not to like?

I drive an E90, and I wouldn't take one of these over an E92 but from the limited experience driving one, I enjoyed it. The owner of the one I drove addressed the clunky shifter issue with a SSK and replacing some bushings I think. It was all smooth sailing after that.

Haha unfortunately the perfectly modded ones are usually the LEAST modded ones. Some wheels, tint, slightly lowered, and a few other bits and pieces = a good car.

Kinja'd!!! Brian Silvestro > AM3R
02/22/2014 at 19:54

That's probably a good car too. Any unmodded ones I ever see are boring and have old people driving, and any modded ones are the older models and pimped/blacked/stanced the fuck out.

Funny you say that, murdered out one flies by me on the highway today, some 20 year old guy driving it giving me the look for some reason (seriously, I'm in a 328i not an M3) and then I see a clean IPL that I pass because it's going 5 under, it's driven by a 45 year old lady LOL.

If my experience with my bimmer ends up costing lots of $$$ (hasn't so far but it's only been 8 months) I'd probably go right to a G coupe. I'd miss the smoothness of the I6 though haha... But the trading smoothness for reliability isn't that bad in my book.

Kinja'd!!! AM3R > Tom McParland
02/22/2014 at 20:13

Kinja'd!!!0

Perfectly worded. The interior on the infiniti is actually on par with BMW. Compare a G37's interior with the interior on a sport package E92. The seats look exactly same, steering wheel is around the same size/thickness, and the shifter is even the same height. Infiniti really nailed it with all the details.

I pass alot on the highway in mine, lol..My beetle however..hello slow lane :) and same here, probably some toolish STI owners here too. Everyone and their mums has a STI here, so some are bound to be tools I'm sure.

For 90% of buyers out there the Infiniti is just fine...for that 10% who want that extra "connection" BMW still has the edge. The problem is for the 70% of buyers in that segment who care about the badge and don't give a lick about dynamics BMW still had the edge.

I just met a guy today who arrived in CA today. His son has this car and they drove it from TX to CA in 2 days.

He was so pissed cause his back hurts from the terrible seats. He was not a fan of the car at all. He thought his son would have been much better odd saving his money and just getting the Prius

A rwd "Nissan" is a positive thing but those have been only available with V6 engines and I really hate V6 engines. The only exception are the V6 engines that rev really high. 90's DTM V6 engines are ok but modern production V6s aren't.

But the title was secret confession so I have one and it doesn't include engines. I have fallen in love with my co-worker. I thought that I had some changes but during the last company party she told me that she has a boyfriend. It seems that my subtle advances failed quite badly. She is either pretty thick or she haven't been interested at me at all. Probably a bit both but I'll ask when I'll feel confident enough. This might be a really bad idea but I guess I don't understand girls very well...

I haven't told this to anyone before. I have "lost" before too but so far this is my biggest defeat. Now I'm not really motivated to do anything.

Yeah, that's why you see so many non sport auto E92's. People like being able to say they drive a German "sports car" rather than say I drive an infiniti haha.

I like the looks of them, but I wasn't impressed by the relative coarseness of the engine. Around my area it seems that obnoxious young douchenozzles drive them, so I've learned to admire them from a distance.

Yeah, and there's the idiots that get xDrive and want the M-sport package because "it handles better" even though the xDrive cancels out any suspension upgrade.

Most of them here have offroady tires, but agree'd on the parents, I'm in Colorado, a lot of "rednecks" and "hicks" here. In quotes because they call themselves as such, but they don't farm or anything, a lot live in suburbs even.

I bought my G37S coupe (6MT) last January and I absolutely love it.

It's a blast to drive whenever I want to have fun and then whenever I'm on the highway it rides comfortably.

Earlier in the month I installed the K&N Typhoon series intakes and can definitely hear the difference in intake noise, it just sounds like it's sucking in so much more air.

It's really the best car I've ever owned. I had a '99 Eclipse GSX in high school, and the G just blows it out of the water in handling and acceleration.

Engine in the front, manual gearbox in the middle and power to the rear - Something Jeremy Clarkson would call the perfect combination.

Haha I know the feeling, venturing one county over takes you to place filled with huge single family homes in the "country side" (it's literally called a golf community or something like that) where people watch a lot of duck dynasty and wear a lot of camo. It's fun fucking with them while cruising..but then again, they tend to cruise ..or well "cruise" in packs. Cruise in quotes now because they don't cruise, they traffic weave and smoke everyone out. To witch my reply is..Cruising is about showing off your car... sorry that you're all so embarrassed about your parents trucks that you have to hide them by flying past everyone or blocking everyone's vision with smoke. My Beetle doesnt like 2nd gear (like most classic Beetles), and it was worse when I hadn't driven it for years, but I went cruising with it anyway, 2nd was like "screw you" so I had to stop after a light and put it back in first, and try again, well the bro truck riding my ass didn't like that, so he got on his horn..so, in return, I laid on my adorably high pitch'd Beetles horn, and then a tuned up VW Golf beside me joined in and blocked the guy from traffic weaving by me, it was awesome, lol

None yet. I might get some new wheels, nothing special, not stanced. Probably just some black ones. My car is the same color as the one in your post and I think black would go really great with it.

Down the road though I think I'd really like to twin-turbo it. It makes ~330HP stock and I'd like to see 450-500.

Golf owners (especially GTI's and TDI's) and classic beetle owners are awesome.

This guy was rolling coal at a red light getting that smoke into everyone's cars and then this tiny lady hops out of her GTI and stuffs the pink teddy bear she has on her dashboard in the bro trucks huge exhaust pipe. It was amazing, he gets out of his truck screaming and ends up locking himself out of it haha! The light changes right after that and he's stuck blocking traffic getting the bird from everyone that drives by. What a brave lady....

Thank you for calling me awesome then :D And lol! Nice, my best friend told me about how he was cruising in his Blazer once (late 90's blazer, nothing special..its a pile of crap, and brown, so we call it the shit-brick) with his gf, and this bro truck wanted to race him. He though for sure he'd loose, but he ended up beating the guy, so my friend held his hand up with fingers in the shape of a ..lower female body part, the guy in the bro truck and his gf pull up and start yelling at my friend and his gf, and try to roll coal (and fail) then they launch off the light - and snap one of the trucks front knuckles in doing so. I wish I could of scene it, lol, a bro truck with a asshole driver breaking itself sounds fantastic.

Hahaha I really don't get why bro trucks ever try to race. Sure you have a V8, but you also have a huge lift kit, huge wheels that weigh a lot, and you can't take a turn at ANY speed lol. You're pretty much guaranteed to lose, why embarrass yourself?
